Where Once The Tiger
Death Valley National Park
3 million years ago, saber-toothed tigers, Smilodon fatales (unrelated to the Asian tigers we are familiar with today) roamed the Death Valley area. Although their patterns more resembled those of a cheetah or leopard, the tiger stripes in the scene helped make the connection. Photo © copyright by Anna Morgan.
