It's hard to comprehend the geological time when standing in a place like Zabriskie point. Sediment deposits were exposed some 5 million years ago when an ancient lake bed dried up. Over millennia, differential erosion and tectonic activity have contributed to the folded nature of the characteristic formations here. Photo © copyright by Anna Morgan.
