The high-canopy woodlands of Southern England were dominated by European beech for centuries. Only pockets of these forests remain due to industrialization and urbanization. Associated with these ancient woodlands are bluebells, which grow in thick carpets, flourishing before the trees leaf out and shade the forest floor. Photo © copyright by Anna Morgan.
